Fifteen year old, Cherleigh Leavitt, organized a leprosy benefit 5K for a Geography project last month. She had to choose a global problem and then create a fundraiser and/or create awareness about the issue.
She had a local business sponsor the 5K, which provided water, granola bars, bananas, and posters. With the help of a friend she advertised with flyers at a nearby school and public library. The Rising Star IT Director created a webpage where people could go to register online.
An event like this takes a lot of planning (Special Events Permits, Insurance Certificates etc.) but Cherileigh says "It was so worth it!"
